About First-quadrant graph paper
This template puts the origin in the bottom-left and numbers the axes upward and to the right, so only positive values appear. It is the layout most measurement and data work needs — bar charts, line graphs, distance-time plots and first lessons in coordinates — without the negative quadrants of a full coordinate plane getting in the way.
Keeping the origin in the corner means the whole page is usable for positive values, so a graph fills the sheet instead of wasting three quarters of it below and left of zero. That suits the bar charts, line graphs and distance-time plots that make up most classroom and lab data work.
It is also the gentlest introduction to coordinates: children read across for x and up for y without meeting negative numbers yet. Turn the numbers off for a plain first-quadrant grid, or set the bold-line interval to match the scale you are teaching.

Common questions
How is this different from the coordinate plane?
The coordinate plane centers the origin and shows all four quadrants with negative numbers; this sheet keeps the origin in the bottom-left so only positive x and y values appear.
